Doug Winters, VP of Education PMISavannah More information for Savannah Presents Dave Barrett Taking Our Project Management Careers to the Next Level The project management field out there is pretty crowded out there. Its no longer enough to be just really good at what you do. You have to be more. It’s no longer build it on time, on scope and budget. You have to add value over and above the normal requirements of project managers. So how do we add value? How do we stand out in the crowd? How do we get recognized in this very crowded field? Our speaker will get us thinking about what we can do to innovate our careers and get to the next level. Key Learning points What is our industry looking for in a project manager these days? How can we stand up and be recognized in a crowded field? What do I need to do to ensure career success as a project manager? David Barrett David Barrett is a professional speaker, regular blogger, podcast host, author of 8 books and project management education advisor to numerous universities in Canada. David’s career includes the creation and directing of a project management conference business called ProjectWorld ProjectSummit, a training company, a software development firm, a speaker bureau, a project management portal called ProjectTimes.com and a project management event series called ProjectTalks. Most recently, David has launched a project management video web site called ProjectBites.com. Most importantly, he is one of us. He has been a member of the PMI since 1995. From ProjectTalks Virtual – April 29, 2020 Always a pleasure to listen to the no-nonsense and directly applicable ideas and attitudes. David is one of my favorite public speakers. David chose a very relevant topic, and the way he presented this topic made me feel proud of being a Project Manager. Great advice to strategically plan my career and other aspects of my life, really helps the thinking process and putting things in perspective. Great speaking points and take aways. Also, a great speaker overall. Thanks David! Liked the juxtaposition of startup vs large corp timeline comparison Timely topic and one I know I should use more though often neglect to do so. Great reminder and good tips. Very easy to listen to. Sample videos can be found at https://davidbarrett.ca/#speaker PDU and Meeting Link The PMI Savannah event offers 1.0 PDU. Doug Winters, VP of Education PMISavannah More information for Savannah Presents Paul Lovelis Effectively Facilitating Hybrid Virtual/In Person Meetings Come find out some of the most important rules and tools to follow during your hybrid meetings, so that no one leaves disappointed or disengaged. Project Managers have been hosting meetings for decades, and ever since NASA put the man on the moon, our teams have been located all over the world or even the universe, all while working on the same project. Technology has come a long way since then and there are a lot of ways to host meetings with people in-person and virtual at the same time. As Project Managers we have to ensure that we engage everyone in attendance, to ensure we get the feedback needed for our projects. Come find out some of the most important rules and tools to follow during your hybrid meetings, so that no one leaves disappointed or disengaged. You will learn: The checklist for hosting a hybrid meeting Rules of engagement when facilitating a meeting Lessons learned from hybrid meetings that went well or poorly. Speaker Biography Paul Lovelis has led many software implementation projects from design specifications, and selection, to implementation, and maintenance. He has written and served on many software solicitation selections for both Pima County and Pinal County over the past 16 years. Through his experience, he has learned the importance of identifying requirements early on, and that selecting the right tool can make or break a project. Paul leads several meetings every day, across multiple organizations; without the best platforms, those meetings can become dull and inefficient.
